Recently while on a tour with the LIHAC club(Lafayette Indiana Historical Auto Club) all nineteen cars were tooling along Indiana 267 heading for stops in Brownsburg. I had just said not a half an hour earlier that the old 48 Studebaker Commander was running very well, when all of a sudden I could have sworn that someone had shut off the key, for the engine had quit cold, my fateful co-pilot for the last 50 plus years asked me why I was slowing down?...
My name is Rubem Duailibi and I host a TV Show named MotorDay OctaneTV in Brazil. My barn find was a 1600 BMW GT, designed by Pietro Frua for Hans Glas at the Glas factory in Digolfing. These cars were named Glas GT in 1300 and 1700 versions. BMW bought the Glas factory from Hans Glas in 1968 and renamed the Glas GT as 1600 BMW GT. They built only 1002 cars, and 12 cars were imported to Brazil by Aguinaldo de Góes by Cebem store. I found one at a stairs building and rebuilt the car. Th...
Well things are going as planned. My goal is to have the chassis done by dec 2008. I had it sand blasted and started to do the modificstions. I purchased a rear radius rod splitter kit & Tourque rod from HRW (Hot rod works) this bolted on to the frame and Banjo rear end. all these products were excellant. I also purchased rear shock ...
I like to collect stuff! My wife thinks some of it is just junk; and she's probably right. Going through some old photos I found two that I would like help with....
I have noticed that a lot of the cars on the market today are just re-badged versions of another car from a partner group or a joint venture group. (For instance, Pontiac and Saturn are both owned by GM.) One example of this is the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky. It is essentially the same car. It looks the same, has the same engine, same chassis, same suspension, etc. The only difference is the grill, the Pontiac has a grill like a BMW (two kidney shaped vents) and the Saturn has long chrome ...
Back in the early 60's Chrysler Corporation was undergoing some rough sailing in terms of a number of slow selling models and some internal intrigue as well with a number of officials being accused of doing a lot of things in their own interests and not for the good of the company or its stockholders. ...
MY DAD HANDED OVER HIS 1961 BUICK ELECTRA 225 4-DOOR HARDTOP TO ME A FEW WEEKS AGO, HE HAS OWNED SINCE 1964, THE YEAR I WAS BORN. HE PAID $250.00 FOR IT THEN FROM A MAN HE WORKED WITH AT THE TIME, BECAUSE THE MAN NEEDED TO PAY OFF A BANK LOAN, SO MY DAD GOT IT FOR WHAT THE MAN OWED THE BANK. MY DAD PAID THE MAN A LITTLE EACH WEEK FOR TWO YEARS TILL IT WAS PAID FOR, IT SHOWS HOW HARD $250.00 WAS TO COME BY THEN WHEN YOU HAD VERY LITLE. HE HAS OWNED THIS CAR EVER SINCE, I LEARNED TO DRIVE&nbs...
Introducing my beloved 1962 Chrysler by Goldenlion
Like a lot of fellows who enjoy owning and driving cars from the fifties and early sixties, I have a number of vintage rides all of which I have had for years. My oldest is a 1956 Packard Super Clipper two door hardtop and my newest a 1970 Pontiac Catalina 400 convertible. My favorite however is my red 1962 Chrysler Sports 300 two door hardtop which I have owned since new - I'll be that magic 64 years of age that the Beatles sing about later this summer, and so the Chrysler is closin...
Silver AnnieIwas born in 1929, as a model 58 Buick. That is all a very distant memory, one I have very little recollection of. My real story begins in 1968. I had been left abandoned for many a years in a New York field; I was rusting away, soon only to be a long gone memory. In 1968 something happened, I was being pulled onto a trailer, not knowing what was going to happen to me o...
I was coming home from a friend's house last night, when I noticed this big blue Bentley Flying Spur pull up next to my car (a 2006 Scion XB. I hate it.) I glanced inside the Bentley to see what it looked like. I have only ridden in a Bentley once, a 1992 Brooklands, and I was curious to see what it looked like inside. It had this beautiful veneered bamboo (I think) wood and retro-looking gauges. I thought it was a very pretty car. Then I looked at the guy driving it. It was a thirtysomething we...
